От 13 до 15 юли 2026 г. в зала „Проф. Марин Дринов“ на Българската академия на науките и в Софийския университет „Св. Климент Охридски“ се проведе Международна научна конференция „Европейският Югоизток и Близкият изток: на кръстопътя на преплетени региони, култури и религии“. Във форума взеха участие над 30 утвърдени и млади български и чуждестранни изследователи.
Основните тематични направления на събитието обхващаха:
- Близкия изток и Балканите в международните отношения;
- Взаимодействията между обществата, религиите и идентичностите;
- Културния и художествен обмен;
- Историческите и съвременни измерения на връзките между Югоизточна Европа и Близкия изток.
Конференцията се проведе в рамките на съвместния изследователски проект „Отвъд границите на времето и пространството: България и Египет в динамиката на трансформациите в Близкия изток“. Проектът се реализира в периода 2025–2027 г. от Института за исторически изследвания при Българската академия на науките и Университет „Даманхур“ съгласно двустранно споразумение между Българската академия на науките и Египетската академия за научни изследвания и технологии (Проект № IC-EG/10/2025–2027).
В рамките на събитието бе представена виртуална изложба като част от дейностите по проекта.

International Scientific Conference “The European South-East and the Middle East: At the Crossroads of Entangled Regions, Cultures, and Religions”
From July 13 to 15, 2026, the International Scientific Conference “The European South-East and the Middle East: At the Crossroads of Entangled Regions, Cultures, and Religions” was held at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. More than 30 established and young Bulgarian and foreign researchers participated in the forum.
The main thematic areas of the event covered:
- The Middle East and the Balkans in international relations;
- Interactions between societies, religions, and identities;
- Cultural and artistic exchange;
- Historical and contemporary dimensions of the relations between Southeast Europe and the Middle East.
The conference was organized within the framework of the joint research project “Beyond the Boundaries of Time and Space: Bulgaria and Egypt in the Dynamics of Transformations in the Middle East”. The project is implemented in the period 2025–2027 by the Institute for Historical Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Damanhour University, in accordance with a bilateral agreement between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (Project No. IC-EG/10/2025–2027).
A virtual exhibition was presented during the event as part of the project’s activities.
